Building Energy Rating (BER)

If you are selling or renting your home, you must provide a BER certificate to prospective buyers and tenants to enable them to objectively compare the energy performance of different dwellings on a like for like basis.

A BER is an indication of the energy performance of a home and is the calculated energy use for space and hot water heating, ventilation and lighting based on standard occupancy. The rating is similar to the energy label on your fridge and is denoted on a scale of A to G, with A1 being the most energy efficient and G being the least energy efficient.

There are exemptions for certain categories of buildings, e.g. protected structures and certain temporary buildings.

A BER certificate is valid for a period of up to 10 years while there are no changes made to the dwelling that will negatively affect its energy performance.

Please call us today on 0402-22263 to arrange an appointment to prepare a BER certificate for your residential property.
